NONPF History and Goals |
Who Are We?HistoryThe first national meeting of nurse practitioner educators was held in 1974. NONPF's formative years were focused on establishing curriculum guidelines for nurse practitioner education during 1976-1980. It was in these four years that the National Task Force for Family Nurse Practitioner Curriculum and Evaluation developed its guidelines. Upon completion of the curriculum project, the task force members continued fostering important dialog on NP education issues. The first organizational meeting for NONPF was held on April 10, 1980, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. NONPF has since grown into a strong organization representing over approximately 96% of all institutions in the US with NP Programs. Additionally, NONPF represents faculty from programs in Canada, the United Kingdom, and other countries. Our MissionNONPF’s mission is to optimize quality and cultivate leaders in NP Education.
