NONPF Social Determinants of Health Webinar Series
This February, NONPF will be hosting a Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Webinar series. The series will provide an opportunity to learn the importance of the SDOH and how you can incorporate them into your courses to enhance your students’ learning experience.
Join us for three live sessions, taking place on February 13th, February 20th, and February 27th, 2025. All live sessions will be from 2pm-3pm ET and available on-demand following the completion of the live sessions.
Learning Objectives: - Discuss the concept of Social Determinants of Health.
- Identify strategies to integrate SDOH into nurse practitioner education to promote culturally responsive care and address health disparities.
- Integrate resources from the NONPF SDOH toolkit into nurse practitioner curricula.
- Demonstrate key SDOH exemplars into NP education through curriculum, clinical training, assessment, research, and competencies.

February 13, 2pm ETDefine SDOH and explore their significance in shaping health outcomes. Discuss various factors encompassed by SDOH, such as socioeconomic status, education, environment, and access to healthcare. Use of assessment tools to identify potential barriers to health equity.
- Integrating Social Determinants of Health in Nurse Practitioner Education
February 20, 2pm ETExplain the role of SDOH in shaping clinical decision-making and patient care outcomes. Describe instructional frameworks that enhance students' knowledge of health disparities and promote culturally responsive care. Recognize the importance of SDOH in the evaluation of clinical competencies and academic progression.
- Social Determinants of Health in Nurse Practitioner Education
February 27, 2pm ETDiscuss how exemplars from NONPF SDOH Toolkit are mapped to the NONPF NP Competencies and AACN Essentials to effectively illustrate SDOH in various clinical and educational scenarios relevant to NP education. Discuss how NONPF SDOH Toolkit exemplars can be integrated into curriculum development, clinical training, and assessments. Describe methods for incorporating NONPF SDOH Toolkit exemplars into research projects and clinical competencies within nurse practitioner programs.
*Continuing Education: This activity will be submitted to the Maryland Nurses Association for approval to award 3 contact hours. Participants will be awarded contact hours after they have attended all registered sessions and completed the corresponding evaluation forms. Maryland Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
