Frances Strodtbeck, DNS, RNC, NNP Baylor University Frances Strodtbeck has 25 years of neonatal
nursing experience in a variety of clinical roles and 20 years of experience
in educating neonatal advanced practice nurses. Currently, she directs the
Advanced Neonatal Nursing Program at Baylor University’s Louise Herrington
School of Nursing in Dallas, Texas. She began her clinical career in
the neonatal/infant intensive care units at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.
She completed graduate studies at Indiana University and received her Master
of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree in 1981 and the Doctor of Nursing Science
(DNS) degree in 1986.
Dr. Strodtbeck is actively involved in the neonatal nursing specialty. Currently, she is the immediate Past President of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN). These activities, in conjunction with an active clinical practice, have enabled her to improve bedside care to infants and their families through the development and dissemination of evidence-based presentations, position papers, and publications. Dr. Strodtbeck has also been instrumental in the development of standards for Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) education and credentialing with the National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties (NCC). She has also been instrumental in the development of the graduate nursing degree as the minimum level of education for neonatal nurse Practitioners. Dr. Strodtbeck is a national recognized expert and a frequent presenter at national meetings. She has numerous publications and is co-editor of a new journal entitled “Newborn & Infant Nursing Reviews”. This journal is an evidence-based clinical journal that uses web technology to enhance learning. |
