| overview | what's involved | length | cost | getting started | Overview Programs requiring more direct involvement by the consultant may opt for this level of service that requires on-site participation by the consultant. The FIC builds on Level 2 but also includes direct, on-site review of curriculum and program materials and consultation with faculty and administration. This level of service may be helpful to programs wishing to address specific components of the NP program/track in greater depth or to programs that identified an area of weakness during level 2 consultation. What is involved in the consultation? Programs will submit materials as requested in the “How to Conduct a Self-Assessment. (available only through the NONPF Consultation for Quality Nurse Practitioner Education Program). NONPF will assign a consultant to the program, and this individual will review the materials from the program before arranging for the on-site consultation. (If level 2 consultation was already completed, this step will be expedited.) The consultant will work with the program to address specific question and generally for assuring adherence to the evaluation criteria and the NONPF curriculum guidelines. This consultation will also include recommendations for standardization of data management in the NP program to facilitate preparation of reports specific to guidelines and the evaluation criteria. Communication between the consultant and the program will be conducted via e-mail. Telephone conversation, and site visit. NONPF believes that level 3 consultation can best be achieved through a direct visit by the consultant to the program site for review of materials and operations and discussion with faculty; however, NONPF will allow the consultant and program to discuss other means for conducting this level of evaluation using distance technology. The consultant will provide the program with a written, consultation report. How long is this consultation? We anticipate that this level of consultation will not exceed 6-9 months. What is the cost? The fee for Level 3, PIC, is $250 plus $600 per day of on-site consultation plus the direct expenses of the consultant. A day of consulting is defined as 6 hours; any additional time will be charged at $300 per half day. The fee covers the modest NONPF administration fee and the consultant fee for review of the materials, communications with the program, report preparation, and direct, on-site consultation. The program also agrees to cover all costs for the consultant’s travel and accommodations for the on-site visit. The consultation agreement is between NONPF and the program. The consultant is providing the service but does not engage in a direct agreement with the program. NONPF and the program will sign a memorandum of understanding after the terms of the consultation are identified. How do we get started? To request this level of consultation, please click here to complete the Consultation Request Form. |
