JoAnne M. Saxe, RN, MS, ANP-BC

Ms. Saxe has been an Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) since 1982 with national credentials since 1984.  She has been an ANP Faculty Member at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), School of Nursing, Department of Community Health Systems since 1985 with her Director role spanning from 1999 to the present.

During her tenure at UCSF, Ms. Saxe and the affiliated faculty members have successfully implemented a number of federally- and privately- funded training grants.  Additionally, Ms. Saxe has over ten years of national and international consulting work that has largely been related to NP regulatory concerns and curriculum development.  Ms. Saxe has designed, implemented and evaluated over 8 master-level NP courses some of which included other advanced practice nursing students.  She has been consistently involved in advanced practice nursing and/or NP curriculum committees at UCSF.

Ms. Saxe was a major contributor to the development of the first Master’s of Nursing Science curriculum at the University of Hong Kong, Department of Nursing.

Finally, Ms. Saxe has continuous quality improvement (CQI) experience through her work at the Glide Health Clinic, a UCSF, School of Nursing, faculty practice site. She was the first Chair of the CQI committee and has ongoing involvement in this committee.  Selected projects include:  Development and implementation of a computerized registration and client encounter database, and the design and implementation of a chart audit process for NP practice.
