Margaret McAllister, PhD, APRN, BC, FNP-C, FAANP Associate Professor Coordinator FNP Concentration University of Massachusetts, Boston College of Nursing and Health Sciences Margaret McAllister has been an FNP since
1980. She has practiced and taught in variety of settings: the Seton Hall
University Adult Nurse Practitioner Program from 1980-1986; Northeastern University
Adult Nurse Practitioner program from 1989-1995, and; the University of Massachusetts,
Boston Family and Gero/Adult Nurse Practitioner program from 1995 to present.
Both at Northeastern and U Mass Boston, Margaret played a pivotal role in
the development of the NP master’s program curriculum and, as coordinator,
initiated a web enhanced NP curriculum. At U Mass she has served as the program
coordinator, principal faculty, and grant project director. In addition
to the FNP program, she has been instrumental in developing Gero/Adult NP
programs, including curriculum, courses, evaluation tools, and clinical placement
sites. She has served as CCNE site team member and has served as a member
of the CCNE steering committee at the U Mass Boston College of Nursing.
Margaret developed the post-master’s certificate options and has initiated online education in advanced pathophysiology and advanced pharmacology. Most recently, she has initiated a proposal for a post-master’s FNP certificate program with all online courses, with options for students with and without background experience as nurse practitioners. She has authored and directed a funded education grant from the Division of Nursing for family nurse practitioner education. She has served as: a consultant to the Ontario (Canada) Board of Registration in Nursing for FNP certification exams; consultant to the Long Beach California Hospital for the Assessment and Evaluation of Nurses Health Assessment Skills; and consultant to the U Mass Boston University Health Services on in service and quality assurance programs. |
