M. Katherine Crabtree, DNSc, APRN, BC Professor and Director NP Education Grant Oregon Health & Sciences University Dr. Crabtree received her BSN and MSN from the Univ. of Michigan
and her Doctor of Nursing Science from Univ. of California, San Francisco.
She has been an Adult Nurse Practitioner since 1975 and has taught nurse
practitioners since 1977. She assisted with the initial development of nurse
practitioner programs at Michigan State Univ. and Oregon Health and Science
Univ. and has also taught nurse practitioner students at University of California,
San Francisco and Wayne State University. She is currently Professor of nursing
at OHSU and Director of the NP Education grant funded by HRSA. She coordinates
the Adult Nurse Practitioner program at OHSU and practices part-time.
She has served as Director of Research for the Department of Family Practice and has conducted federally funded interdisciplinary research on clinical problem solving and evidence-based practice. She is serving her second term as Chair of the NONPF Education Guidelines and Standards Committee. She has edited several monographs for NONPF including Teaching Clinical Decision-making (2000) and Advanced Nursing Practice: Building Curriculum for Quality Nurse Practitioner Education (2002). She led the revision of the core competencies for NONPF published in 2000. She co-directs the federally funded National Validation of NP Competencies for Adult, Family, Gerontological, and Women’s’ Health Nurse Practitioners. She has been President of two chapters of Sigma Theta Tau. She reviews manuscripts for national organizations, various journals and publishers. She has presented papers nationally at NONPF, National Symposium of Nurse Practitioners, Western Society for Nursing Research, Society of Behavioral Medicine, Society of Preventive Medicine, Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, American Diabetes Association, American Association of Diabetes Educators, and internationally at Sigma Theta Tau International and at several International NP Conferences. |
